Home School

It is amazing how home school can really pay off in my eyes. I get asked if the kids are in school and when I tell them they are home schooled I get different reactions. But I really don't care. They are doing amazing and I can proudly say that I have taught them to read and do math. Yes it is a lot of patients and hours of teaching them but Kenzie has improved on reading and math with in the short 5 months she has been in kindergarten. I'm not sure where she stands compared to public school education, but I think she is excelling.
For just turning 4 in September, Braxton has done a fabulous job in reading also with in the few short months we have been doing preschool . He can already read some of Kenzie's phonics books that she got from the k-12 program. He can read books 1-3 pretty good by sounding out each word, there are also some words that he already recognizes and can read with out hesitation. For example he can read these sentences "Pup in Tub. Sam had a pup. The pup is Mac. Mac had fun. Mac dug and dug." The only word he needed help on was "the". which is hard to sound out.
I don't have a stand on public or home school but it works for my kids and people say that home school kids are weird because they lack the social part of it. But when I was growing up there were weird kids in school also. So you can't judge them because they are home schooled.
I honestly don't know how long I will home school them I have given them the option and what ever they want to do is their chose. And I am proud of what they have accomplished thus far.
