Christmas 2017

This year we celebrated Christmas at home. Grandma and grandpa Lehwalder and Josh and Crystal came over for Christmas this year. Ashleigh and Jackson also spent the night. Christmas Eve we always do Christmas pajamas and a Christmas box. Christmas Morning is always a magical morning
when you have kids. This year Tyler and I decided for their gifts this year we didn't want to do a lot of toys. So instead we got everyone season passes to lagoon. Except for Ashleigh and Jackson, Ashleigh already got one and Jackson didn't want one. The look on their faces when we gave them their envelops was priceless. Makenzie also got a gun since she turned 12 this year.
Merry Christmas!!

Makenzie's Donor speech

First Day of school

This year we are homeschooling again. Braxton was thinking about going to public school so he can be with the neighborhood kids, but decided a week before school starts he wanted to stay home schooled. This year Makenzie is in 6th grade, Crazy I know. Braxton is in 4th grade, and my little miss Myleigh is in Kindergarten. Makayla will being doing UpStart for preschool this year as well. Every year before they start school, Tyler gives them a father's blessing. These kids need to stop growing so fast. We are staying with Davinci Academy again this year, and guess what I will be teaching specials day. I'm super excited, a little nervous I havent worked since 2007 so its been a while. Here is to 2017-2018 school year!

End of summer 2017

This summer went by way to fast. Okay I think every summer goes by fast, We try to soak up as much sun as we can get. We went to splash pads, swimming, Swim lessons this year, we even got Classic Skating passes.  This is the season we hang out with as many friends as we can, before hibernating for the flu season.

Makayla is 4

My baby girl is 4, It made me sad that she turned 4. Why do they have to grow up? Maybe because she is my youngest. OK, every time my kids get 1 year older each year it hurts my heart a little. This year she wanted Minnie Mouse cupcakes for her birthday. (She is obsessed with her). That night we went to an Off Broadway Theater, They even sang Happy Birthday to her. Love my little Peanut!!

Follow-up cath

As I stated in the last post, Makenzie had her yearly Cath before we went to California. Unfortunately she was in Mild rejection and was on steroids for a week to clear up the rejection. After getting treatment they wanted another cath done to make sure the steroids worked. 6 weeks later she is back for a follow up cath. It went good, her pressures were down and her rejection was better.

10 year post transplant/family vacation

I am so thankful that we are able to spend this big Milestone with Makenzie. It has been 10 years since Makenzie's heart transplant. It has defiantly been a roller coaster of a ride, but she is doing amazing. She has been asking to go to Disneyland for the past 2 years for her big 10-year mark. But between Tyler's medical stuff and buying a new house, we haven't been able to save up the money to take 8 of us there. So, I heard about this foundation called Merlin's Magic wand Foundation that helps kids enjoy a day out at specific place. The one that was closest to us, was Lego Land in California. But before we could go, Makenzie had her Cath a week before our Vacation. Her Cath went well, she was in mild rejection, so she had to be on steroids for a week. We also had to wait to see if her EBV levels came back good otherwise they suggested us not to go.
An amazing thing happened, I won't go into too much detail, but I got asked to speak on Mother's Day at our church, but that was the day we were planning on leaving if Makenzie's levels came back good. Our bishop is amazing, he asked what we were going to do in California besides Lego Land. I told him "Anything that is free." we had a hard time saving money for this trip, but we wanted to do something special for Makenzie. Well, if you know Jeff Grant he is a huge Disneyland fan. He asked if we were going to go to Disneyland, and I replied, "no we don't have the funds to go". But Kenzie would have loved to go. We Told Makenzie we were just going camping for her special day, and she was OK with that, she understood our finances and didn't care what we did.
Any ways, my bishop Jeff was asking me all these questions about California, and I didn't think anything of it. Come to find out he told friends about Makenzie and our situation, and they donated $1500 for us to take Makenzie to Disneyland for her BIG DAY. Tears rolled down my face forever it felt like. They were making Makenzie's day the best day ever for her.
So, Makenzie's labs came back good, so we were good to go on our trip. The kids still had no idea what we were doing or as a matter of fact that we were even going anywhere. I packed all the suitcases secretly and just woke them up at 4 A.M and told them lets go. We left Sunday on Mother's Day, stopped in Vegas for a little bit for a stretch and go to the M&M and coke Factory, and ate lunch. We finally made it to California 12 hours later, but we did it.
Monday, we went to Lego Land, it was fun, the mini figurines of all the little Lego's everywhere were unbelievable.
Tuesday May 16th was Makenzie's big day; she still had no idea what was in store for her. We arrived at Disneyland and the look on her face was priceless. It was such a magical place, the kids had so much fun there they didn't want to leave. We got there at opening and left at 11:30 P.M. It was the best way to celebrate such a big milestone for Makenzie's. She deserved it. We are so blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives to do such a big thing like that for her. Her Favorite ride was Hyper space Mountain. I think that was all the kid's favorite ride.
Wednesday was our last day before we were headed home, so we went to the beach it was cold, but that didn't stop most of the family from getting in the water. Tyler, Jackson, and Braxton I think loved that day more than anyone else.
I'm so glad that Makenzie was able to have such an amazing 10 year "Heartiversary". She says, "Disneyland was the best day ever" and talks about it all the time. She is ready to go back. And it was her first time on big roller coasters, and she loves them!!!

Myleigh at 5

This was a hard birthday for me, I can't believe she is 5 already. This means she will be starting kindergarten this year. She is such a sassy, spunky, 5 year old going on 16.
She had such a fun birthday party. She wanted a bounce house, so we decided to go carnival style, we had cotton candy, popcorn, games, face painting, and balloon making. it was a blast. She invited like 15 of her friends and she loved it.

Myleigh says Bye, Bye training wheels

Myleigh tried learning to ride a 2 wheeler last summer when we lived at Grandpa Madsen's house, but since he lives on a busy street it was hard to teach her due to a very small side walk.
So When we moved into our house and warm weather came around, she saw that her cousin learned to ride her bike, and  she wanted to start learning again. Since we live in a cul-da-sac, she was able to learn in the circle. Makenzie and Braxton helped her learn how to ride in about 30 minutes. She is getting so big.

Way to go Myleigh

9 year anniversary

It's been a fun, and very exciting roller coaster. We've been through so much these past years. You gave me 4 beautiful children. We have lived in 3 apartments, and bought our first home together last year. We've owned 3 vehicles, have our own business, and gone through many different jobs. Lots of medical things. I wouldn't want to go through this crazy life with anyone else, you have made me a stronger person.

This year, we decided to go to dinner, and ended up going to a jazz game. It was a fun day, and nice to get away by ourselves for a few hours.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
