I guess on Friday night Tyler was having pains in his legs and they started to lock up. 29 hrs later, I get a phone call Saturday night from Tanner around 12:30 A.M Stating Tyler got life Flighted off the mountain but he is OK! WHAT!! Nothing is ok when you get life flighted off a mountain. They took him to the IMC hospital and I arrived around 1 A.M. Thanks to Tanner and Katie for coming that late to watch my other kids.
Braxton, Ashleigh and Jackson stayed on the mountain with Neal that night and came home the next afternoon, and Jay stayed with Tyler and went with him on the life flight.
Seeing Tyler in so much pain and not knowing what was going on scared me. He ended up in the ICU and was treated for Rabdomylosis. His Ck levels were at 35000, which normal is in the 100's. To treat the Rabdo they have to flush his kidneys before he goes into kidney failure. A couple of days later his CK levels jumped up to 58000, its going the wrong way so they had to push fluids even more. He had about 3 big iv bags pushing fluids threw him like crazy and he got up to 185 lbs due to water weight thats how much fluid they were pushing threw him to clean his kidneys out. When he got to the hospital his pee looked like the color of coffee, about 3 days in the hospital it finally cleared up and with all that fluid going threw him his levels slowly dropped down.
He got released to the floor and had to relearn to walk. It was quite the task for him he could hardly even move his legs.
They did a little of PT at the hospital and on Braxton's Birthday he got released to a Rehab center.
With lots of hard work, dedication and pain about a week and a half later he was walking.
It was such a roller coaster. Not knowing if he would ever walk again and end up in a wheel chair. We still have no idea what caused this to happen, the only tests they have done was blood test and they came back normal so they want us to follow up with a rheumotologist and an internal medicine Dr.
Release day! Goodbye rehab center
Tyler is so amazing with all that he had and is enduring. I couldn't even imagine going through what he did and I don't really no all the details of what happened on the mountain expect search and rescue had to come ride him off a mountain on a horse. Imagine riding on a horse with your legs locked your feet pointed out and hitting rocks along the way because you cant move your legs or feet. I couldn't.
