When it rains It pours

Yet it is only January the beginning of the New Year, people hope maybe this will be the year. But every year you get trials and tribulations that you must put your faith in the lord and trust in him that he knows what he is doing. And that is what we are trying to do.

First we find out that Kenzie needs a pace maker put in, to help her heart to pump properly. Ok that was a little bit of a shock we have talked about it in the past with the doctors but I never really thought she would need one especially not this young and she would out grow the Brady cardia and the pauses she has and her weight will get better but I guess this is the year she will get one. It will help her and help us be at ease that her heart wont just stop because she may end up having one of her long pauses, and her heart wont catch up in time. But she will do amazing she is a strong girl.

After we found out we needed to go to Denver for her procedure Tyler hits a pot hole and the tie rod end goes out along with the alignment so we got that fixed and out of the way. Then on Friday I go out to the van to go grocery shopping and the van wont start, really. Come to find out the fuel pump and the fuel filter needs to be replaced so Tyler fixes the van. Then on top of that today Tyler is at work and some kid backs up into the car while it is parked and smashes the tail light and puts a hole in the trunk. Luckily we don't have to pay for that expense.

We always hear that the Lord only gives you what you can handle man is he testing us. I am trying to look at it as positively as I can I don't know if there is a lesson we should be learning or the Lord is testing our faith and we are suppose to put our faith in him and trust what he is doing. That is exactly what we are doing putting are faith in the Lord and trusting in him that he has a reason why this is all piling on us all at once. I keep telling myself as long as Makenzie is ok and she does wonderful and all of her procedures go well then none of this matters we have gotten through bumps in the road before and these passed few vehicle issues are just some minor one's. And it will go up from here. We are just so thankful to our Heavenly Father that Makenzie is staying healthy and strong and that he is watching over her and protecting her.

Jackson's first sleep over at our house

After Ashleigh had a sleep over Jackson wanted one so bad. He said he has never had anyone spend the night at his house. So he invited his friend Boston to spend the night and it was Boston's first sleep over also so they were pretty excited. Boston didn't get here until 8:30 so they played for a little bit and when it was time for bed time they told the girls that it was there turn in the living room so they could watch a movie and that they needed to go to bed. Just like when Ashleigh has a sleep over they have to go to bed so the girls can have the living room to themselves. So they watched Monsters vs Aliens and the funny thing is that they passed out about 30 min into the movie. But they had fun and enjoyed the sleep over and the living room to themselves. It makes me so happy when Jackson has a good time over here. He is such a good kid and I love him and I am glad that he is in our lives, and that we are getting closer and closer every time he comes over.

Ashleigh's sleep over

This was the first time Ashleigh had a sleep over with 2 of her friends Kylee and Alex. It started out playing rock band jamming out to I love rock and roll. Whip it. over and over. Then a marshmallow war outside good times.
The girls stayed up all night and I mean all night they didn't get to bed until 7 a.m. Except Alex she passed out at midnight. They stayed up making a cake, painting faces, making movies and probably much more. But they seemed to have a good time and enjoyed the sleep over so I am happy it turned out well.
Except the morning I woke up. Boy was the house a disaster. with dishes everywhere frosting all over the counter. But it was worth the kids enjoying there teen years. They are good kids and I love Ashleigh and I am glad that we are close.

A break through

Ever since my kids were babies they have always slept with us whether it was in our bed as a baby or by my bedside in there bassinet or crib. So they have came accustom to sleeping with us so it has been really hard to get them into there own beds. Not to mention we spent 7 months with just me and the kids in Denver at the Ronald Mcdonald house in a room like a hotel room. While daddy stayed in Utah working for us. Or in a one bedroom where we got to stay with my brother and sister in law for 2 years so we could pay off all our medical bill from Kenzie's surgeries. (Thank you Jerica and Neal). So basically we have all slept in the same room since the kids have been born. So to transition them to there own beds and room was hard. So when we got our own place we decided to put a bed by our bed and they slept there for about a year cause it was hard on them to sleep in there own room and I had to hold there hand until they fell asleep. To be honest I loved them right by my side. It made me feel more comfortable, that way I could listen to them breath and watch them sleep. Especially after Kenzie's surgeries.
About 2 months ago we decided it was time to get them into there own room. (That was really hard on me). So for the first month it was me lying in there bed waiting for them to fall asleep, creeping out in the middle of the night trying not to wake them so I could get a decent night sleep. Didn't happen the first month. It was very stressful on me not to mention sleep deprived. Yes I had midnight mommy calls wondering where I was at.
This past month has been the best sleep ever they have finally got used to sleeping in there bed without mommy. We still get the midnight show up of Braxton climbing in bed but Kenzie has done an amazing job sleeping through the whole night. I still make my appearance's in the middle of the night to check on them. I don't know if it is a mommy thing or I am over protected but I don't care it makes me feel better about the whole thing. Not to mention they now get to bed around 8:30 p.m so Tyler and I can have alone time.
With this early bed time they wake up to early for me, not a morning person might I add. But it has been nice getting up early and getting preschool started and done with and having the morning to hang out with the kids and getting the house cleaned before noon.
It has been a great transition on us it has showed me that it is ok to let the strings go just a little and unfortunately they don't stay babies for ever. They will always be my babies but they do grow up.

A glimpse of the Madsen's life in 2010

January started off by Ashleigh turning 12 o boy a preteen, so a tradition that Grandma Madsen had when her girls turned 12 was to make a princess cake because they are turning into young ladies so i decided to make one for Ashleigh.
February was an amazing month it was the month we got sealed as a family unfortunately Ashleigh and Jackson couldn't get sealed with us but one day we will get there.
It was also our 2 year Anniversary which was the same day we got sealed.

March brought in warm weather and spring so we spent a lot of time in the swimming pool enjoying family time and staying cool.

April brought our new yearly Madsen family camping trip to Arches. We enjoyed 3 days of non stop fun and hiking With Neal and Jerica. Dustin and Clint. Shontel and her friend Annie. and of course our family. Cant wait till this year's trip to Arches.
It was also Jackson's 7th birthday so i made him a spider man cake.

May was the month we go to Denver for Kenzie's yearly Cath. We spent 3 days there at the Ronald McDonald House. Saturday we went to the children's museum. Monday was her Cath day so we spent all day at the hospital. Her Cath came back good.

June brought the end of the school year which gave us the summer with Ashleigh and Jackson.

July was a hard month with the passing of Laurie, battling cancer for 3 years. I got the call from Tyler when he was at his dad's picking up something when he told me I need to come now that is doesn't look so good. So we spent the whole night at Grandma's with the family. We love her and miss her dearly.

August was a big month for me it was my 30th birthday. But Tyler did an amazing job on planning my birthday. He surprised me with a trip to Las Vegas with out the kids (that was hard). But we spent 2 days there of non stop fun and walking the strip and seeing shows (David Cooperfield).

September Back to school we started up home school again with Kenzie and Braxton. They defiantly have excelled in learning. It was also Braxton 3rd birthday and we had a Hero party so I made him a spider man cake as well and enjoyed fighting off the villains.

October came Halloween which I love dressing up just as much as the kids. This year we carved pumpkins with the grandparents at Grandpa Madsen's house.
It was also Tyler's 31st Birthday so I made him a football field cake since he loves his football

November was a month of thanks and family as well. We traveled to Great Grandma Madsen's house in Vernal and spent the entire Thanks giving day there enjoying food, games and family. I forgot my Camera so no pictures.

December was one of my favorite months yet very busy. With Christmas and the birth of Christ, trying to teach our children all 4 of them the true meaning of Christmas. With family in town enjoying everyday with them. Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house. and of course New years resolutions.b
It was also Makenzie's 5th birthday. We celebrated with friends and family, enjoyed cake and snacks.

It has been a wonderful year and can't wait until what this year has in store for us. May it bring all of you all your hopes and dreams and enjoy spending time with family friends and create memories that will last a life time.

Service

A little late on this post but here goes. This year we decided to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald to give back for Christmas and help the kids understand service and how happy it makes people who need help. Jerica, Charsty, Kira and Aurora came with us to help volunteer.
We arrived at 12 and started by wiping down the toys and sanitizing them while Jerica, Tyler and Ashleigh cleaned out the storage closets. When we got done with that we did flu control which is were we got to wipe down all the door knobs and stair railings. It was really nice to see the kids enjoying doing service for others and not complaining once.
I almost forgot Jackson even donated one of his Lego's that he didn't open from Christmas to the Ronald McDonald house. I know it must have been hard for him but it showed us how big he is after the Christmas melt down and he understood why he needed to donate the toy. Because Christmas is about our savior and not presents.
